93 students graduate at Oryx Universal College’s Graduation Ceremony 2023 at QNCC

Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) marked the graduation of 93 students from its MSc Project Management and BSc (Hons) Computer Science programmes. Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) marked the graduation of 93 students from its MSc Project Management and BSc (Hons) Computer Science programmes. The event served as a celebration of the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the graduating students of the LJMU’s collaborative partner. Embedding themselves as trailblazers of STEM Education within the region, OUC stands with a growing alumni community of 188 highly skilled and competent graduates, majority of whom are key contributors to the industry, community, and the nation.

The graduation ceremony, held on 15th March 2023 at the Qatar National Convention Center, was a momentous celebration of these graduates. The graduands had arrived at the location with their friends and family, to celebrate their success after having demonstrated their devotion, perseverance, and enthusiasm towards their academic journey at the College.


The ceremonial proceedings commenced with the traditional and grand procession of the graduands, faculty members, and members of the senior management, followed by the national anthems of Qatar and UK. Mr Azmy Ameer, the President of OUC, delivered the commencement address, congratulating all the graduands on their efforts and accomplishments. He highlighted the need for the education systems to transform in response to the ever-evolving global dynamics of the industry stating, “The Education industry is entrusted to develop new kind of knowledge, skills and competencies for the future generations to deal with such challenges. We need to design our teaching differently, we need to redesign and craft a new and adaptive learning experience for our students, and we need to assess them in ways that empowers them with the ability to continue to learn and change.”


Announcing OUC’s plans for the future, Mr Azmy Ameer had emphasized on the need for a student-centric ecosystem tethered with a 10-year strategy focused on changing and adapting needs of the industry in line with the technological advancements across the globe along with unique capabilities and responsibilities curated by the State of Qatar.

The graduation ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests from Liverpool John Moores University, Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ooredoo, Kahramaa, KPMG and Quantum Global Solutions amongst others. His Excellency Dr Khalid Thani Al-Thani, Chairman of QIIB and Deputy Chairman of Ezdan Holdings had also attended the evening as the Chief Guest.


The official proceedings of the ceremony had ended with a recession after which the guests of the evening were welcomed to enjoy the formal dinner. The graduates had proceeded to take photographs with their families, friends and mentors as they recalled their time at OUC and expressed gratitude for the long-lasting and impactful support they were able to curate overtime at the College. 


Oryx Universal College in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University with its significant tenure so far managed to prove its standing as a leading player in the private higher education sector of Qatar. This year the College opened doors to a new batch of students inducted in its recently launched MSc Cyber Security programme. However, as OUC moves forward with an additional portfolio of postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, it looks forward to an evolving journey ahead by expanding its roots in the area through the extension of its facilities.


The College is set to launch LJMU-validated programmes including MSc Leadership and Management Practice, MSc Investment and Finance, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering and BA (Hons) Human Resource Management for the upcoming academic year.
