The 6th Graduation Ceremony marks a record-breaking milestone, bringing the university’s total alumni community to over 600 graduates, contributing to Qatar’s national development
Doha, Qatar — 12 February 2026 — Oryx University, in partnership with Liverpool John
Moores University (LJMU), today celebrated its 6th Graduation Ceremony at the Qatar National
Convention Centre (QNCC), conferring degrees upon 190 graduates — the largest cohort in the
institution’s history since its launch in 2020. The ceremony brings the university’s cumulative
alumni community to more than 600 graduates, each equipped with internationally
recognised British qualifications and positioned to contribute meaningfully to Qatar’s economic
diversification and national development.

The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Naimi,
Undersecretary of Education and Higher Education, attended as Chief Guest, representing Her
Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education. In his address, Dr. Al Naimi
commended the graduating class and called upon them to become drivers of innovation across
Qatar’s sustainable economic sectors, urging graduates to embrace entrepreneurship,
technological advancement, and service to the nation.

The event was further distinguished by the attendance of several ambassadors and senior
dignitaries representing governmental and private sector institutions across Qatar. Professor
Keith George, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Knowledge Exchange at Liverpool John
Moores University, attended the ceremony representing Professor Mark Power, Vice
Chancellor of LJMU, reaffirming the strength and vitality of the international academic
partnership.

A Significant Milestone in Qatar’s Private Higher Education Sector
The Class of 2026 graduated across Oryx University’s diverse portfolio of undergraduate and
postgraduate programmes, spanning the university’s four faculties: the Faculty of Computing
and Data Science, the Faculty of Engineering and Construction, and the Faculty of
Leadership and Business. The university currently offers ten programmes — six at
undergraduate level and four at postgraduate level — each developed in close collaboration with
LJMU and aligned with industry demand in Qatar and the wider region.
The British degrees awarded in the university include the following disciplines: BSc (Hons)
Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Civil Engineering, BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying, BA (Hons)
Human Resource Management, BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering, BSc (Hons) Software Engineering, MSc Project Management, MSc Cyber Security, MSc Investment and Finance, and
MSc Leadership and Management Practice.
Presidential Address
In his presidential address, Mr. Azmy Ameer, President of Oryx University, reflected on
the institution’s transformative mission and its alignment with Qatar’s national ambitions.

positive minds for a sustainable future. Tonight, 190 graduates step forward — not
merely as degree holders, but as problem solvers equipped with the resilience,

are the living proof that when a nation invests in the minds of its people, the returns

A Year of Institutional Achievement
The 6th Graduation Ceremony comes at a period of significant institutional momentum for Oryx
University. The university has recently achieved formal recognition as a university by the
Ministry of Education and Higher Education, establishing it as the fourth nationally
recognised university in the State of Qatar authorised to deliver degree programmes in
academic partnership with LJMU. The university has further been recognised by the
National Committee for Qualifications and Academic Accreditation (NCQAA) for its
commitment to quality and progress — a testament to the rigorous standards maintained through
its partnership with LJMU.
The university has also strengthened its research capacity, securing research grants from the
Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) amounting to up to
USD 500,000, underscoring its commitment to building a robust research portfolio that
addresses real-world challenges aligned with Qatar’s development priorities.
In a further landmark development, Oryx University inaugurated its new state-of-the-art
campus in Fareej Al Nasr, strategically located near Al Sadd Stadium. Spanning over 20,000
square metres, the modern facility features advanced classrooms, research centres, and
collaborative learning spaces designed to foster interdisciplinary innovation. The campus
significantly expands the university’s capacity and reinforces its position as a central hub for
higher education excellence in Qatar.
Qatar’s First Private STEM-Focused University
Since its founding, Oryx University has distinguished itself as Qatar’s first and only private
sector higher education institution predominantly focused on STEM education
(Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This strategic focus directly supports
