Doha, Qatar – Oryx Universal College (OUC), in partnership with Liverpool John Moores
University in Qatar and the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE), successfully conducted a
comprehensive workshop on Stock Trading and Investment Decisions from July 29 to August 6,
This event marked a significant milestone in OUC’s ongoing commitment to providing

The workshop was divided into three sessions, each focusing on different aspects of
investment strategies and providing attendees with a comprehensive learning experience:
Session 1: Theoretical Foundations
The workshop began with an in-depth theoretical session at OUC’s Auditorium. This
segment covered fundamental concepts of investments and stock trading, presented
by our industry experienced faculty members Dr Mutale Katyoka and Dr Richmond
Michelo. Participants gained insights into market dynamics, risk management, and
strategic investment planning, laying a solid foundation for practical application in
subsequent sessions.
Session 2: Real-Life Investment Simulation
The second session, held at the Qatar Stock Exchange at Al Dana Towers in West Bay,
conducted by Mr Samer Abou Zaghla, Education Manager at QSE, offered participants a
unique opportunity to engage in a hands-on simulation of stock trading. Using a virtual
budget of 1 million QAR, participants were challenged to invest throughout the session
on QSE’s in-house trading simulator. This interactive exercise was designed to mimic
real-world trading environments, allowing attendees to apply their theoretical
knowledge in a simulated setting. At the end of the session, the group achieving the
highest return on investment was declared the successful team, fostering a spirit of
healthy competition and practical learning.
Session 3: Reflection and Certification
The final session, conducted back at OUC’s Auditorium, provided a platform for
participants to reflect on their learning journey. This segment emphasized
discussion on future learning opportunities and culminated in the awarding of
certificates. Attendees were encouraged to share their experiences and feedback,
contributing to an interactive and engaging conclusion to the workshop.
