Oryx Universal College was pleased to take part in Qatar Sustainability Week for the first time in 2020. This started with both students and staff making pledges to reduce their impact on the environment for the week, such as travelling more by metro or not using plastic bags.
On 5th November, students and staff travelled to Al Thakira to plant mangroves. These are an important part of the local ecosystem as they provide a habitat for numerous birds and animals, as well as being big absorbers of carbon dioxide, which helps to reduce climate change.

Our efforts were acknowledged by the Qatar Green Building Council, which awarded us with a Certificate of Appreciation for our work. We very much hope that OUC will continue to participate in Qatar Sustainability Week each year in the future!
