Professional Experience
  • Dr Abualqumboz is an academic leader and project management expert with over 15 years of experience. He currently serves as Head of School at Oryx Universal College, Qatar, providing strategic direction and overseeing business and leadership programs.
  • Previously, Dr Abualqumboz held various academic roles in the UK, most recently as Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. His teaching and research focuses extensively on project management, operations management, and knowledge systems.
  • Earlier in his career, Dr Abualqumboz worked as a Project Manager on construction and infrastructure initiatives. This experience guides both his research and consultancy practice.
  • As a consultant, Dr Abualqumboz has assisted numerous companies in the UK and Middle East to improve productivity, supply chains, operational agility and overall performance.
  • He also has secured over £250,000 in research grants for developing organisational project delivery capabilities and service design innovations. His prolific research output includes many journal papers and book chapters.
Research Interests
  • Dr Abualqumboz's current research interests focus on knowledge flows and human dynamics within project-based organisations. He is especially interested in studying how teams share, retain, and apply knowledge under uncertainty, and the interplay between knowledge processes and resilience/agility capabilities. His approach examines sociological perspectives and complex interdependencies in order to reveal evidence-based principles for managing projects. Specific topics of inquiry include stakeholder engagement, leadership behaviours, adoption of innovations, and organisational learning.
