Professional Experience
  • Dr Omuvwie holds degrees from Cambridge, Bath, and Manchester universities, as well as the London School of Economics. Throughout his undergraduate and postgraduate studies, he was awarded numerous scholarships from all the universities he attended, including one from the prestigious Engineering and Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC)) and another from the Mathematics for Education and Industry (MEI). He has a background in Mathematics and Computer Science with a focus on Secondary, Further, and Higher Education, and he has taught both topics for many years in these contexts. Before entering the educational sector, he worked in industry with NatWest Bank, British Telecommunications plc, the African Foundation for Policy Research and Shell Petroleum. He was a Senior Project Manager with Shell Petroleum and formerly worked as a Lecturer in Computer Science at London Metropolitan University & University of Essex, and as a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester. He was also a lecturer at the University of Hull, where he taught an array of Research Methods module/courses.
Research Interests
  • My research interests span all aspects of mathematics teaching and learning, as well as the development of critical mathematical thinking skills. I am also interested in applying Rasch Modelling in measuring students. mathematical thinking skills.
