Professional Experience
  • Dr. Moad Idrissi is currently an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Data Science where he has significantly contributed to academia, research and industry. He served as a Research Fellow on the 5G Connected Forest project, funded by the UK's DCMS, achieving wide media coverage and international recognitions. Dr. Idrissi has accumulated over six years of teaching experience. In 2022, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Tokyo, Japan, and during the academic year of 2023-24, he served as a visiting academic at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UK). During his tenure at Birmingham City University, Dr. Idrissi held the position of Employability and Industry Engagement lead for his department. Here, he supported the development of relationships with leading industry partners including Microsoft, AFJ, Universal Studios, and Jaguar Land Rover, which entailed facilitating visits, mentored projects, partnerships, and employment opportunities. Dr. Idrissi's industrial experience is driven by his Tech-Lead role at Curzon House (UK) followed by serving as a senior consultant for SMInnovetics Ltd (UK) in the development of bespoke technologies. He also served as a KT supervisor for AFJ Ltd (UK) in the development of vehicle fleets and Monitoring Systems for Home-toSchool Transportation.
Research Interests
  • Dr. Moad Idrissi is an active researcher who has successfully secured multiple projects within the areas of Vehicle Fleet Management, Environmental Monitoring and Digital Mapping for Biodiversity Conservation, which utilizes state-ofthe-art technologies including Smart Sensing, Aerial and ground robotics. Currently, Dr. Idrissi's research is focused on integrating AI with visionbased sensing for autonomous aerial and ground robots, particularly in tackling complex robotics challenges through innovative perception methods and multi-agent control systems. Over the years, he has achieved numerous publications in top-tier journals and conferences which have earned him multiple IEEE best paper awards.
